SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION – 2020

Our warmest congratulations and prayerful wishes to the parish children (S1) of St Thomas Aquinas Secondary, Notre Dame Secondary, and the Gaelic School who received their Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday (14th) and Tuesday (15th) December. Many thanks to parents, sponsors, and schoolteachers for their contribution and preparation of our children for this Sacrament of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit into our children’s lives.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

Our parish R.C.I.A. team is offering their final weekly Advent reflection by Zoom on Tuesday 22nd December at 7pm. You are welcome to join as many or as few as you like. Contact stninians@rcia.org.uk if you would like to join these reflections for free or if you have any questions.

ADVENT JESSE TREE

Traditionally we place our gifts and prayers at the foot of and on the branches of our ‘Jesse Tree’during the weeks of Advent to be given with our love and respect to our families within our parish and to Glasgow North West Foodbank. We ask a special appeal for any small, inexpensive toy for our children as they above all are our ‘gift’ from God to us and a major focus of our celebrations at this special time of the year for all our families – particularly those in need.

Many thanks for your most generous response.

PRAYERFUL REMEMBRANCE

Our parish community extends our sincere sympathy and support of our prayers to the families and friends of:

Kathleen Doherty (Great Western Road)
Brian Tennyson (Glendinning Road)

Whose funeral Masses and Committals took place on Thursday (17th) and Friday (18th) December.

– May they rest in peace –

We ask for your prayers also for the Mothers of:

Fr Thaddeus (St Roch’s, Royston)
Fr Anthony (St Martin’s, Renton)
Fr John Gannon (St Maria Goretti, Cranhill)

Fr. Frank’s Mum – Jean – whose funeral reception will take place in St John’s, Barrhead on Tuesday 22nd at 6.30pm and Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday 23rd December (live stream)

– May she rest in peace –

We also remember Sophie Geddes (Dyke Road) – a pupil of Notre Dame Secondary who has died recently, Sophie’s parents, Paula and Stephen, her sister Ruby, her many friends and schoolteachers, neighbours, and community in their loss.

– May she rest in peace –

We wish Fr. Celestine a safe journey home to family and friends in Nigeria – may he enjoy the company of his loved ones this Christmas and New Year.

We warmly welcome Fr. John Clark (Comboni Missionaries) Verona Fathers, to stay with us until the end of the month, and Fr. Joe McNulty who will be in residence/supply until Fr. Celestine returns to Glasgow in February.
