DO NOT FORGET THE POOR

To mark the fourth World Day of the Poor which is marked today, 15th November – Pope Francis has released a message to the whole Church, urging us to focus this winter on supporting those in need. An abridged version of his message can be found in this month’s Archdiocesan journal – ‘Flourish’.

As part of our parish contribution to the ‘World Day of the Poor,’ we invite each family to bring one item of food which can be left in the Church Sacristy or handed into the Church house this week to be distributed between our local food bank and local/neighbourhood needy. You may wish to give a donation towards our parish St Vincent de Paul Society after Mass today.
‘You pray for the hungry, then you feed them. That is how prayer works.’ – Pope Francis

CATHOLIC PAPERS

November edition of Flourish is available – free of charge – and can be picked up as you leave Church today.

The Catholic Universe – incorporating The Catholic Times (£1.90p) – are on sale each weekend and can be found on the bench (Saint’s Chapel) as you leave Church.

MARY’S MEALS

‘At Mary’s Meals, we are inspired by the courageous ‘yes’ of Mary. Her total Trust in God in the face of numerous challenges gave the world the most precious gift of all – Jesus.

Throughout this year of many challenges, we have continued to say yes, with the help of our generous supporters, to feeding children their daily meal in a place of education even when obstacles arose. Now we are delighted to share with you a new opportunity to say yes and provide hope to 43,000 children in Bong County, Liberia. From 2nd November until 31st January 2021, any donations made to the Double the Love campaign will be matched by the UK Government, up to £2 million.

Each little act of love will be doubled to support families in Liberia and the hope of a better future for their children. You can get involved by setting a place at our Big Family Christmas dinner table https://bigfamilychristmas.marysmeals.org.uk/big-family-christmas-table.

You can also buy our Christmas gift cards on our website. More information on how you can support us can be found at www.marysmeals.org.uk/doublethelove Thank you for everything you do for Mary’s Meals.’ – Liz McQuade (Mary’s Meals).

CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK – 16th – 30th NOVEMBER 2020

During this Catholic Education Week, we are asked to reflect on how we recognise Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life in our homes, schools, and parishes.
Our Bishops are currently looking at ways in which we can donate electronically towards the Scottish Catholic Education System which is a designated Archdiocesan Special Collection next weekend. More information will be given next Sunday.
