And Melda Biggs (Ancaster Drive, Anniesland) whose funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 4th November at 12 noon.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION – 2020
At Archbishop Tartaglia’s request, we will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation during the month of November for our parish (S1) pupils who were unable to receive this Sacrament while in Primary 7. We are presently finalising our list from St Thomas Aquinas and Notre Dame Secondary schools. If there are any parish schoolchildren (S1) attending other local schools now due to receive this Sacrament, please give your name to Fr Frank. Date(s) for Mass(es) of Confirmation will be set when numbers of ‘Confirmed’ is finalised.
SISTERS OF THE SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY
Each year every parish in Scotland is expected to hold an annual collection (retiral) for a particular religious order working in the missions. The particular ‘religious order’ is assigned to give their appeal on a deanery-basis-hence ‘Deanery Mission Appeal’. On account of the closure of the Church (March-July), we were unable to accommodate Sister Pennie. In order to honour our parish contribution to the work of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, we have donated £1,000 – sent onto Sr Pennie.
NOVEMBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS
Evening Mass will be celebrated on Monday to Friday this week (2nd-6th November) at 7pm for the Holy Souls. November lists are available for anyone who wishes, please return to Church Sacristy.
R.C.I.A. – RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS 2020
Our warmest congratulations to Owen, Gemma, Helen, and Shirley who have all been baptised, received into full communion, and received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion over the past month. We thank our parish Catechists – Teresa, Julie and Patricia, Fr Celestine, and Deacon Tommy for their contribution towards the faith journey of these our new parishioners. We are now in a position to begin a new course/session of R.C.I.A. via ‘Zoom’ for anyone wishing to learn more about the Catholic faith or those wishing to be baptised into our faith – please contact Fr Frank, Fr Celestine or Deacon Tommy in the meantime.
COMBONI MISSIONARIES (VERONA FATHERS)
We warmly welcome Fr John Clark (Verona Father) and the friends of the Comboni Missionaries to our parish next weekend (7th/8th November). Fr John will be selling calendars (2021) – £1 – in support of the work of the ‘Comboni Missionaries’.
ST MARGARET OF SCOTLAND (70 YEARS OF CARE) LIGHT UP A LIFE – SUNDAY 29th NOVEMBER 2020 AT 6.30PM
Light up a life is a special event at the Hospice which takes place on the first Sunday in Advent. This year’s Lighting up Service will be a virtual one, with the Service being live-streamed from the grounds of the Hospice. Each of the lights on the Christmas tree will be sponsored in memory of or in honour of a loved one. The tree will remain lit until 6th January 2021.
If you would like to sponsor a light for a loved one please take home ‘Light up a Life’ materials available as you leave Church today (at exit doors).
PARISH STEWARDS, TELEPHONE BOOKINGS, CLEANING OF CHURCH
Since ‘Private Worship’ and onto opening our parish Church for the weekend and daily Mass we have relied on and are truly grateful for the services of a group of faithful parishioners who act as parish stewards, take telephone bookings for weekend Mass, and deep clean and sanitise the Church each Saturday morning. If you are able to give some time to any of these ‘ministries’ at present please speak to Fr Frank – it is important that ‘too few’ are not too heavily burdened by too much work which can be shared by other parishioners.
‘KITS FOR KIDS’ 2020
Many thanks to our parishioners who collected tokens from The Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers for a set of football strips for our local Primary School, St Ninian’s. With your support, we have been able to reach our target (1800 tokens) – with several hundred tokens to spare (given to other Primary/football teams). Special thanks to local Primary teacher – Louise Carey-Spence and Nurture Department of St Ninian’s Primary.
