LEGION OF MARY WAYSIDE CLUB

Are celebrating 90 years of reaching out to the homeless and vulnerable this year. Our Lady of the Wayside Praesidium invite you to join them for a Mass of thanksgiving on Sunday 18th September at 3pm in Blessed John Duns Scotus, Ballater Street, Gorbals. (Principal Celebrant, Archbishop Nolan).

ST NINIAN’S BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

St Ninian’s Bereavement Support Group has been offering support to our bereaved families, at certain points on their grief journey, for a number of years. At the time of the funeral, one of the group attends the funeral to express our sympathy and to give a card to the family in the name of our Parish, assuring them of our prayerful support.

When the family is reasonably local, we make contact again by phone, after about 3 months, to express our continuing care and to see how they are. We invite the family to return to a Sunday Mass which is being offered for their deceased family member. An invitation card is given to them either in person or, more usually, by post.

We arrange the Annual Mass of All Souls on the 2nd November. A personal invitation is sent to every family who has suffered bereavement in the year.

As a group we meet every 2 months for support and ongoing planning.

We are always looking for new people to join the Bereavement Group. Is this a ministry you might feel drawn to? If you are interested please speak to Sr. Anne – 0141 434 1371 or to Fr Frank.
